- Course Policy -
Each student should carefully assess the evaluation criteria for successful completion of the course.

Attendance: Students must attend class regularly and arrive on time. Final grades will be lowered if there are more than three absences. The Literature Department policy states that six absences in a semester may be grounds for failing the course.

Assignments: Students should preview and read assignments before class and be prepared to participate in class discussions. Written assignments must be turned in on time, and papers will lose credit if received late. Final drafts must be computer generated and double spaced.

In-class work may not be made up. If students miss a class, it is their responsibility to be prepared for the following session. Course lesson plans and the course syllabus are available on the Internet at http//www.erols.com/iseerisk/poit, and should be utilized as a learning resource.

An on-line College Reading Journal will facilitate direct communication among students and the professor. Students will receive topics for journal discussions in class and via the Internet.

A final project will enable students to apply skills, strategies and behaviors specifically to their courses as they create a Guide to Preparation for Final Examinations.

Grades: Grades will be based on satisfactory completion of all assignments. Attendance and class participation will be taken into consideration. Cumulative evidence of increased understanding and application of appropriate learning behaviors and strategies will be a major criterion for evaluation.

Tests: Tests must be taken when scheduled. Make-up tests will not be administered. Accommodations for students with special needs will be arranged in conjunction with the Center for Learning Services.
