 Erica Hoyt has studied in New York City and with some of America's outstanding watercolor artists. Erica is well known on the east coast for her paintings and also her ability as a teacher of watercolor. She is the recipient of numerous awards and has had many one-person shows. She is represented in many permanent collections such as Seibels, Bruce & Company, The South Carolina National Bank, American Home Life Insurance Company, Bankers Trust, Greenwood Genetic Center, The Integon Company of Winston-Salem, Colonial Life, the Spartanburg Museum's permanent collection, The White House, Washington, D.C., the South Carolina State Museum permanent collection, Lexington, South Carolina Museum, South Carolina Electric and Gas, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Park Seed, and the Hall of States, Washington, D.C.. Mrs. Hoyt is a Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society and a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society, with excellence. She is also a member of the Columbia Artist Guild and the Dutch Fork Art Association, for which she taught watercolor classes for nineteen years. She is active in giving workshops and as a juror. She travels extensively for her subject matter.
Transparent watercolor is her first love. She has a great love for the old, the weather beaten, the scenic and the historic. These elements are reflected in her paintings, giving them a warm nostalgic feeling to which many people relate. She paints with accuracy and imagination.
