The Summer Studio Art Program in Perugia, offered by American University, is an intensive four week experience for self-motivated students. The program offers an unparalleled opportunity for younger artists to spend a significant period of time studying seriously in a studio art program in Italy—with access to an excellent and highly respected faculty of contemporary artists as well as first hand visual dialogue with many of the historical giants of western art—Biotto, Piero, Raphael, and a seemingly endless list of others.

Perugia, situated midway between Rome and Florence is the home of many internationally recognized artists who make themselves accessible to the students in this program. Visiting artists and lecturers are a major component of the program. In addition to the days spent painting, printmaking and sculpting, time is set aside for travel to significant sites in Italy.
